Himal Association in partnership with ECS media is proud to announce the 9th edition of KIMFF from 8 – 12 December 2011. KIMFF 2011 features 52 films from 22 countries, interactive discussions, a scriptwriting workshop, an alternative book exhibition, a photo exhibition highlighting Nepal’s cultural aspects and a fun "Know Your Himal" quiz conducted by Nepali Times editor Kunda Dixit. KIMFF 2011 will feature a panel discussion on ‘Role of Film Festivals in Promoting Local Film Culture’, a talk by Finnish filmmaker and winner of the 2010 Cannes Cinefondation competition for film school films Juho Kuosmanen. Cultural entrepreneur/ film festival organizer from Denmark Torsten Hvas will lead an interactive discussion on ‘Pitching, marketing, and distributing films for an International Market’.
KIMFF 2011 will present a special section of short films from Tampere Film Festival Finland, northern Europe’s biggest short film festival. The films will be introduced by Tampere Film Festival’s executive director Juhani Alanen. KIMFF 2011 also features special screenings of ‘Cultural Vignettes of Nepal’ a film by Toni Hagen on Nepal’s dances and music shot in the 1950s and ‘Voice for Justice’ a film by OHCHR on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2011.
