I am thinking of traveling to Nepal later in the year. I have a young child, under one, is it possible to travel to Nepal with young children? Will we be safe? Are there any treks which are easy enough to take small child in a sling or rucksack?

Thanks!

I am probably not the most experienced person to answer this but I will give it a try.

I have seen lots of people traveling in Nepal with their children. The children are usually a little bit older than yours but not much. Safety should not be any more of an issue than in other Asian countries. You might want to look into finding mid to high range hotels, if your child will be crawling around on the floor, cleanliness might be an issue.

As for the trekking, I have never been on a trek but i have spoken to people who have taken their older children. I think if you take an easy enough trek you should be ok. Taking a porter might be advised so that you can carry the child and the porter your bag.

Good Luck.
Its not worth the risk... Your child is too young... i think you should wait atleast till he is 7 or 8... for now you can drive to Sarangkot of a view of The Annapurna Range in Pokhara... or Nagarkot (two hours from Kathmandu City)....
Thanks a lot!
What about the hike from Changunarayan to Nagarkot? It is only one day and is pretty much 'Nepali flat'? I think this would be a good walk to test out the situation.

Never done the Changunarayan hike.... But it still might be risky if you have a one year old chil.... But ya i think the hike may be good...
